I am finally letting my beloved Rare 1985
Supra go. We just bought a new Highlander and need to make room in the garage. I
bought this car from Longo Toyota in El Monte, CA on November 11, 1984, with 16 miles on it.
It is a 1985 model year Celica Supra. It has the famous original high
compression in line 6 cylinder 2.8 Liter engine with dual
overhead cams. The car has been lovingly treated for 23 years. It has the
original paint with original decals and original wheels. This was my "daily
driver" until a few weeks ago. I walk to work most days so for the last 10 years
I drove it under 1500 miles per year. It starts and runs great and has never
given me any trouble.
The spare tire is brand new. The shocks were replaced recently and I opted for the KYB Gas-A-Just performance shocks. The car hugs the road and is FUN TO DRIVE. Adjust the driver side seat to have the side-panels hug you, pump up the lumbar support and start cruising the curves.
The exterior is in very good condition but there are some blemishes. The interior looks very much like it did when it was new. I replaced the leather boot around the shifter and replaced the shifter knob with a contoured shifter. The center arm console has been custom recovered in a very attractive black motorcycle leather and looks better than new. The original steering wheel padding is in place with a a new two-tone leather wrapping. The stereo has been replaced with a Kenwood removable AM/FM Cassette player. An after market Viper remote entry alarm system was added. A separate amplifier has been added in the back and I had a custom speaker cabinet made to fit right inside the rear of the hatch that houses two 6X9 speakers and provides a killer audio experience. There are pictures below on this page and a lot of additional pictures available on a separate page that show all these details.
Documentation includes the owner's manual and the original window sticker. All maintenance records are held by Toyo-Tech in Manhattan Beach, CA who has cared for the car since it was a few years old.
All photos on this page (and pages
linked to from this page) were taken on or after 7/20/2007. Click on any

shots, doors, interior, rims, odometer etc.

Personality |
Small nicks, dings and scratches in body. See the blemishes page. Air conditioner coolant developed a slow leak several years ago but I never refilled the coolant or sealed the leak as I drive limited mileage and usually prefer to have the sun-roof and windows open. If you want A/C you should count on either recharging the coolant every year, repairing the leak or replacing the A/C with a newer more eco-friendly system. Clutch pedal squeaks when shifting. When shifting into reverse the back-up lights do not light. Toyo-Tech verified the bulbs are OK but deemed problem not worth fixing. |
